NSW Historic (HVS) & Classic (CVS) Registration

Everything you need to know about putting your classic Fiat on Club Plates.

How to Qualify

HVS (Historic Vehicle Scheme) For stock/original cars (30+ years old).
CVS (Classic Vehicle Scheme) For modified cars (30+ years old).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a financial member of The Fiat Club (Fiat Club - X1/9 Australia Pty Ltd).
  • Own a vehicle that is 30 years or older.
  • Ensure the vehicle is as close to original condition as possible (for HVS).

Steps to Registration

  1. Be a Member of the Club
    Ensure your membership is active before starting. Join / Renew here.
  2. Get a Pink Slip
    You generally need a safety inspection report. (Exemptions may apply).
  3. Visit Service NSW
    Take your paperwork to the registry. The fee is approx $100 (includes CTP) for the first year, then ~$51/year.

What to take to Service NSW

  • Your Proof of Identity (NSW Driver Licence).
  • Proof of Ownership
    Original receipt/invoice — Create Receipt Online.
    (Only required if the vehicle is not yet registered in your name).
  • Pink Slip (Safety Check report).
  • Vehicle Declaration Form (HVS or CVS)

  • Conditional Registration Application
    Download Form 1246 (Required only for the first time you put a car on HVS or CVS plates).

When can you drive?

60 Days / Year

Plus any official club organised events which do not count towards the 60 days

(Remember to complete your log book before any private trip. No log book is required for official club events)
